One whole year!

Yesterday baby D celebrated his first birthday. Given that he was born at 2am, we all celebrated by sleeping through the time of his birth. I spent some time reminiscing about what it was like a year ago: he pretty much slept through his first day and we thought we had the best baby in the world... =) We truly had no idea what we were getting into, and it's funny how "seasoned" one year can make you feel, while on the other hand you know you're barely at the beginning of the journey.

Back in the present year, D wore his birthday bib to daycare and they sang happy birthday for him. Calls came in from friends and relatives all day long wishing him a happy birthday. Even the city was celebrating, by showing off one of the few heat waves we get every year. This was a scorcher - 80's in SF is pretty rare, and D got to play in his sandbox after coming home in the evening. Perfect preparation for our upcoming trip to tropical climates...
