Daycare and travel report
Baby D started daycare this week. We went in yesterday for just a few hours to get to know the place and the people who'll be taking care of him, partly because I wasn't ready to let go yet, and partly because we were exhausted from the trip and all the changes. I'm happy to report that he did great on all the plane rides, and was reasonably well-behaved otherwise despite the time change and the continuous meeting of new people. In Chicago, the whole family gathered at great-grandma's, so Damiano got to meet his second cousins Brayden and Sianna. In NH he got to hang out with our friends Julie and Patrick's boy, Connor, who's almost a year older than him (and running around).
Today he spent some time alone at daycare - I left him for one or two hours at a time and he had a go at eating from the bottle while there. It wasn't a slam-dunk right off the bat, but I think he'll get used to things, as will I. Although it is still hard for me to give him up to others, slowly working our way up is definitely the way to go. It does take quite a bit of planning in the morning, to get everything together and get ready for the day, so that's quite a change from our leisurely schedule. I'm glad we have the time to do this without pressures. I had the time to run a few errands today, which was fantastic.
I still plan on keeping him with me at least on Fridays so we can keep going to Mom & Baby yoga. I have to start looking for new gig as I resigned last week and will be in need of some income soon - daycare is not cheap!
